Food for Santa Fe: a bridge to self-sufficiency

Facts and Figures

Food for Santa Fe volunteers

How is money contributed to FFSF spent?

Over 86% of contributions to Food for Santa Fe go directly to the purchase and distribution of food to feed families in the Santa Fe area. The remainder covers overhead costs, including rent for warehouse space, liability insurance, an annual audit, and necessary supplies such as food bags. Since FFSF is completely staffed by unpaid volunteers, no money goes to salaries or staff.

When and where is food distributed?

Each Wednesday morning, 6:30-9:30 am, we package bags at the Coll-Greene Angel Depot at 1222 Siler Road in Santa Fe. Every Thursday morning, 6-9 am, the grocery bags of food are distributed free of charge to those in need who drive through at the Depot.

What kind of food is in the grocery bags?

A typical family grocery bag contains non-perishable foods such as canned soup and packages of pinto beans and rice, as well as perishable foods such as bread, potatoes, eggs and seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables. The store value of the food in each bag is approximately $16; through bulk purchases, the cost to FFSF is approximately $3.15.
